First thing I want say is that I have purchased both programs for my son and he has been using the Middle School workout in your Train to Pin booklet. We got the workout in the summer and he has been very committed.
He had his first practice with the wrestling club last week and I couldn’t believe the praise he was getting. He put on about 10lbs of muscle from last season and now weighs 116lbs.
At the end of practice, the coaches had the wrestlers line up according to height and weight and they proceeded to have a “Sumo challenge” – the object is to get both the opponents feet out of the circle. My son was 3rd from last as he is one of the oldest kids being in 8th grade. The boy next to him started trash talking as there was a large gap between my son and him ~ about 25lbs. and he said how easy it was going to be to throw my son out.
My son won the 1st challenge with a kid who last year beat him regularly. Next was the trash talker….he got low and I could see the speed and strength as he quickly changed direction and pushed the bigger kid out of the circle. That surely got some of the parents and coaches stirring and the trash-talker mumbling to himself as he walked to the losers mat.
Last was the heavy weight…..he was weighing in around 165-175lbs. They pushed back and forth for a min, but as the big kid went to take a high power move and charged, my son bear-hugged him and used the other kids momentum and flipped him up over his hips and they both landed soundly on the mat……with the heavy weight completely out of the circle!
Groans and gasps could be heard as my son jumped up with a huge smile on his face. Priceless.
So much more confident than last year already, so much stronger, so much more power and speed.
Can’t wait for the season to start.
Thanks for your help!
We are starting the season, so he will be backing off the heavy work and concentrate on the basics while wrestling heavy.”
